Storyboard and Anamatic

  • These are the pictures of our storyboard, which will be going in our anamatic. We took full pictures like this to show clearly what happens when, and so that we have pictures of a storyboard and an anamatic. This way it is clearer how we want things to happen, and the angles that are included.

  • This is our anamatic storyboard, to show how our scenes are going to take place, what angles we are going to use and some of the dialogue we will be using. We have anamated it so that the order of scenes and shots is obvious, and so when watching our film in the end, our audience can understand the different shots if they were to have our storyboard with them as well. Also an anamatic makes the storyline easier to understand as they would know what scene fits in where due to the storyboard telling this. If we were to do our storyboard again we would make the pictures a bit clearer and more detailed, also include more detailed writing about the sound or music that will be included in that scene/shot.

Props

  • We will not include many props in our film, but we will probably include some. First of all we may include toilet roll, as our bad guy could have it around his head, in order to keep his appearance a secret, to make him that tiny bit more scary. Also by putting him in toilet roll it means we will not have to worry about if his face will not look scary, because it will be covered up. We could also cut a bit out so one of his eyes is showing, and cut a bit out for his mouth so these are the only things that the audience knows about him.
  •
  • The second prop we may be using will be a knife. (Fake.) We may choose to use a knife, as every bad guy always has one weapon to kill his victims. We chose knife over gun as with a gun, it always makes a loud noise so we would have to find a sound effect to do that. Also by him having a knife, it explains where the girl's blood could have possibly come from, as she may have tried to stop the bleeding from her wound etc, so therefore ending up with blood on her hands which then was smeared down the window as her hand went down it. If we use a fake knife, as the bad guy is walking we could show a glimpse of it, in order to show the audience that he is at the house to kill.

  • A final prop we may use is Tomato Ketchup. We may use this to signify the victim's blood in one of our scenes, where their hand goes down the window. We may choose ketchup as it can look like blood, and by looking like blood, the audience may feel scared as they know the victim is seriously hurt or going to die. Ketchup may be a good choice as it is fairly cheap and easy to find, so we would not struggle to find some or worry if there was not much. The only issue that may arise is the consistancy of it, as it is quite runny and thin at times, so may not show up as red on the windows, but instead just look greasy.

Script

  • In our film, we will not be including a lot of dialogue, as we do not feel we need too. At the beginning there will be some, and also at the end. But we are keeping it to a minimum in order for our audience to be on the edge of their seats just by hearing the music. We will not have much dialogue as from the beginning our characters will be separated in order to make them more vulnerable, and what happens to them will be kept a secret.

At the beginning, this dialogue will be used.
Girl number two: Where are your parents?
Girl number one: They're away for the weekend, so girly night in.

Shortly into the film, this dialogue will be used.
Girl number one: I swear I just saw something at the window, it might be next door checking on me. One second.
Girl number two: Okay, see you in a minute.

Through the rest of the opening minutes, no dialogue will appear until the end.
Bad guy: You're the last one left.

Piercing scream.
News report comes onto TV.
Police man: This is the hardest case I've ever been on, the man has never been sighted. The only way we know who he is, is by his signature bloody hand down the window of the house he has attacked.

 12.03.12 UPDATE -

End of film
We have decided not to have our bad guy saying 'you're the last one left', as it did not fit in with how we wanted the scene to look. (girl two going upstairs to find bad guy and screaming) therefore there will be no dialogue and instead there will just be a scream from girl two.

News report
We have decided to scrap the news report idea, as we have chosen to just have the bad guy walking away into the darkness instead, with no follow on to show how he can never be caught. Also due to changing the beginning (by having newspapers etc) we simply do not have enough time.

Shot list

  • For our film, we have finally come up with the different shots that we want to use. We wrote the shots in our opening scene treatment, but to make them more clear they will be as follows.
  • Our film will be shot at night in order to create the scariest atmonsphere for our audience, and as it will be at night, people will be harder to see, therefore keeping people mysterious.

  • An establishing shot of the house.
  • Mid-shot of the two characters to establish who they are and whilst they talk.
  • Mid-shot as the two walk into the other room.
  • Shot from behind the sofa.
Scary music starts playing.
  • Zooming in shot to the window.
  •  High angle shot as she goes to the door.
  •  Match on action as girl number 1 opens the door.

  • Canted angle tracking shot/tracking shot as she walks towards a bush.
  •  Over the shoulder shot from the bad guy's perspective.
Loud breathing can be heard to the audience.
  • Side angle shot as she looks around.
Music suddenly has a very sharp edge to it.
  • Behind the sofa shot of girl number 2.
  • Close up of bad guy's feet.
  • Mid shot of girl 2 on sofa.
  • Long shot as she goes outside to call her friends name.
  • Low angle shot of her walking up the stairs
Loud piercing scream is heard from upstairs whilst on black screen.
  • low angle shot of bloody hand going down the window.
  • long shot of bad guy walking away
'Signature' title appears, screen fades to black.

Interview with actor 3

Our group member Beth, interviewed our possible actor 3, to find out a bit more about her and why we may be able to have her in our horror film. This is what she found out.
B: Hello.

J: Hi.

B: What is your favourite genre of horror film?

J: Probably real life horror with twists so it’s not predictable otherwise its boring

B: How many horror films have you watched in the last 6 months?

J: Five

B: What is your favourite setting for a horror film?

J: An everyday setting so that way its believable

B: Have you had any acting experience before?

J: I have been in a few school plays when I was younger but that’s all the acting experience I have had

B: Why do you think you’re suitable for this part?

J: I feel that I fit the stereotype of the girl real well

B: Are there any specific things you feel your character should do in the horror film?

J: I think that you shouldn’t make it obvious that I am the victim as it makes it less predictable and more interesting for the audience

B: Okay thank you

Final actor & actresses

  • These three people are going to be our final actors/actresses as Amy is blonde and fits the stereotype of horror films, being the blonde girl who is slightly more vulnerable than everyone else and an easier target. Also she does not mind talking in our film, so would most likely fit the role better. Alex is going to be our final actor as he would fit the bad guy criteria very well as he is quite tall and if he was wearing all black, would look very scary. Also the bad guy in films is generally a man so we wanted to copy that sterotype, so our typical audience member can relate to our film. Amie is going to be our second final actress as she is quite petite, so is vulnerable looking. She also has a very innocent face so our audience would feel sympathy towards her dying first.
