Soundtrack research

  • 'The house of leaves' may be a good choice of soundtrack because it has quite a dark, sinister feel to it from the choice of string instruments. There is also a build up which may make the audience feel wary of what is going to happen next. Also the occasional drum beat suggests that something dreadful is going to happen on one of the next few beats, so the audience are frightened as to what is happening.

  • 'Pop goes the weasel' may be a good choice of music for our soundtrack to our film because at the beginning there is a build up, and the drum beat sounds as if there are footsteps or possibly like the audiences heart beat as the music has a very obvious beat to it.

  • 'Redletter' could be a good soundtrack choice because it fades in and out, so the audience would be straining to hear what it happening with the music, whilst in the background of it there is a steady rhythm building tension for the next events to happen in the film.

  • 'Epic unease' may be a good choice as it has string instruments to highlight areas of our film that we want the audience to feel a greater fear of, whilst other instruments blend in to make higher pitches at certain points to emphasis the change in a scene.

  • 'Constancy part 2' has a build up at the beginning, which could be good in our film as at the very start not much happens. If we used this music it could show how our film is going to get scarier with time, and how the audience should still be worrying and watching closely.

  • 'Interloper' has a very quiet beginning, and then occasional drum beats. As it continues the drum beats become more common and louder. Our film could benefit from this music as it is not incredibly loud and noticeable throughout, but the occasional times when it does kick in could scare our audience. Half way through it goes incredibly quiet, so this could give our audience a false sense of reassurance, when in actual fact something bad is going to happen next.

  • 'One of them' has a very quiet beginning, and then some drum beats and tense music. It also has a certain element of the 'Jaws' theme tune too it. From this resemblance the audience may know that something bad is lurking waiting to happen, as the music is thrilling. Also it could let the audience know that someone may be waiting to strike like the bad guy, and that they should watch out for him.

  • 'Private reflection' has quiet a saddening tune to it, which could make our audience feel sorrow for our characters if we were to play it towards the end when one of them had been killed. From the element of voices our audience members may be slightly worried as anything could happen next.

This music may be good to use as it is all dark and mysterious, and most of it is very tense. Music plays an important part in creating the mood for a film, so for our films to be able to scare people we need to use very dramatic music. This would be by using songs that include drums and string instruments as they can really vary the mood in a film for the audience.
